Ziggie's Is Closing!

After just renegotiating his lease in the last few months, Ziggie decided on Sunday to call it quits – and his last day open will be Wednesday. I just happened to stop in for a burger and was told the news. He just decided that with the downturn that this was the smarter time to retire and to return to Argos in Greece. So Marquette loses not just another restaurant, but an institution.

Boo! That's sad. I always liked Ziggie, especially after we lost Louie D's to the building of the addition to Campus Town.

And I also heard rumors that Gyros was not doing so well.

I couldn't tell you about Gyros; while I stop in at Ziggie's for a burger or a malt, anything actually vaguely Greek does evil, evil things to me.

Re: Gyros. It would not surprise me since Qdoba and the Dogg Haus have late hours on the weekends and better food.

But overall things may be tough on everyone. Starbucks is closing an hour early and cutting its staff's hours.

Whoa damn... another Marquette landmark, lost to the times. What a shame...
